Through-flow area

Inlet and outlet area define the inflow and outflow boundary of the whole flow channel.

 

Blade projection

In case of an unshrouded impeller the outer blade profile is projected onto the casing.

If an Extension exists, the blade trailing edge is projected onto the RSI.

This option must be enabled for a successful export to Ansys ICEM CFD.

 

RSI connection

If there is a Rotor-Stator-Interface (RSI) on the inlet side of the component, an existing gap can be closed automatically by the RSI connection. These surfaces are used to create a simplified, closed volume model for flow simulation neglecting impeller side chambers or other casing parts.
